Itinerary for Vancouver Aquarium Trip

Meet at the Vancouver Aquarium Entrance for attendance
The location is here
meet at 9:15 for attendance

930  we will do the wet lab
1045 we will get time to eat lunch and walk around aquarium. Stay in the aquarium
12:15 we will meet together inside the entrance to walk around the seawall.  This is our route.  We will stop by Totems and see the flora and fauna around the seawall.

We will end up at Waterfront station at 1:30 and board the skytrain to head back to Nanaimo Station.

You Animal!

We will visit the Vancouver Aquarium on Feb 

intro to kingdom animalia.  there will be a 10 mark quiz next period on the contents of these notes up to the section on endoderm, ectoderm and mesoderm

Today we will review key concepts in kingdom Animalia and look at sections of earthworm and ascaris to compare the body plans of these animals.  You will discover whether you are a protostome or deuterstome.

Microbiology test

There will be a multiple choice test (kudos to the Theatre students on the  Gladstone drama show!!) on the following

and for those involved in the fabulous drama show, I need to see your notes on the following video up to 45 minutes. There will be four viruses in the documentary:  SARS, Spanish Flu, Small Pox, Ebola

For each of the  viruses tell me:
1.  What are the factors that caused the emergence of the virus (what started it?)
2.  What are the symptoms of the virus?
3.  How was the illness treated?
4.   What was the disease vector(s) involved with spreading the disease?
5.  What steps were taken to control and stop the outbreak?
6. Why do people track birds for studying human viruses?
